Yamil Delgado Winner of the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports-Scholar Award

Boston, MA- Fisher College is proud to announce that Yamil Delgado has received the exceptional honor of being named a winner of the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award baseball third team selected by the Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine.

The magazine sponsors the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards to honor undergraduate students who have excelled in the classroom as well as on the athletic field. Inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe, Jr.'s commitment to education as well as his love for the game of tennis, U.S. colleges and universities are invited to participate in this annual awards program by nominating their outstanding sports scholars. In addition to their athletic ability and academic performance, Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars demonstrate a commitment to community service and student leadership. Delgado is a junior starting pitcher for the Falcons is a Bachelor of Science in Managment major. He has not only been a star at Fisher but within his local community as well. He volunteered for three months with the Roberto Clemente Foundation as a coach, trainer and mentor for the Youth Sport Program of Boston (RC21YSP). He was so successful in his outreach that he was asked to be further involved in the programs "Building a Nation of Good" cause. Delgado has also been actively involved in relief efforts for those affected by the hurricane in Puerto Rico. Because of his direct efforts over this past summer, Luis Clemente was able to identify Roberto Clemente organizational leaders who aided in supplying a plane full of supplies to those in his own hometown.

Yamil Delgado is a triple threat student athlete at Fisher College with his successes on the field, in the classroom, with his over 3.0 GPA, and as a pillar of leadership in the community. It is Fisher's great pleasure to see Delgado recognized for all his efforts.
