Falcons Ready To Fly Over The Clippers In Home Opener

Boston, MA- The Men's and Women's Basketball teams kick off their home seasons tomorrow night as they take on the University of Maine-Machias Clippers at the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, MA.  The women will kick things off at 5pm, with the men to follow in the nightcap.

The Lady Falcons are off to a fast start with two straight wins at the Villa Maria Tip-Off Classic this past weekend to open their young season.  Juniors Kellie Gaston (Tampa, FL) and Vivian Lara (Norwalk, CA) lead all Falcons with 43 points a piece in two games.  Lara is coming off a tremendous game in which she scored 34 points, including five 3-pointers, while also contributing on the defensive end with 25 rebounds, six assists and four steals combined in her first two games as a Falcon.  Junior Jenny-Lynn Eggers (Sonoma, CA) also had a great weekend for her team, scoring a combined 23 points and 13 rebounds in two games.  Freshman Shaniah Hazard (Providence, RI) has come off the bench in two games for Fisher and has been a monster on the boards, grabbing 25 total caroms.  The Falcons will be facing a tough Machias squad who in a 3-0 start, have outscored their opponents 217-97.

The Men's team will be coming off their first win of the season where they took down Bryant & Stratton College, 91-84 in the second day of the Villa Maria Tip-Off Classic.  The Falcons have been led offensively by Senior Brandon Rembert (Camden, NJ) who has scored over 20 points in the first two contests for 43 points combined.  Rembert went off against the Bobcats on Saturday as he finished the day with 23 points, seven assists and five steals to contribute to Fisher's first win of the season.  Juniors Jhalen Lumpkins (Sacramento, CA) and Ville Milan (Turku, Finland) have combined for 50 points and 24 rebounds in the first two games, with Milan having a 21-point contribution against the B & S. Senior Kyle Snowden (Santa Cruz, CA) also averages nine points in the young season.
