Men's Basketball Will Look To Right The Ship At The Coast Guard Academy Tuesday Evening

Boston, MA- The Men's Basketball team has had their travel calendars filled the past week as they have had away trips to both Vermont and Colorado over Thanksgiving break. The team will hit the road again tomorrow evening as they head to New London, CT to take on the Coast Guard Academy Bears.  The Falcons have lost their last three contests not because they did not play well, but because their opponents were hitting an impressive amount of shots.  In the three losses over the last week, their opponents shot just over 50% from the floor, including a 69% shooting performance in the first half from Western Colorado University.

The Bears are 4-0 in their young season, and also have strong shooters as they currently average 47.5% from the floor.  USGA has also not allowed more than 77 points this season to their opponents and have won all their games by a margin of 10 or more points.  The Bears will have fresh legs as they did not have a scheduled contest over the break so have not played since November 18 since defeating Wentworth Institute 65-55.  Senior forward Nolan Benson leads all Bears with an average of 17.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while juniors Packy Witkowski and Noah Baldez each average in double figures for their squad (15.0 and 10.0 respectively).

Senior Brandon Rembert (Camden, NJ) is coming off a strong weekend at the Colorado Mesa Thanksgiving Classic in which he led all scorers with 28 points on Saturday evening in the losing effort, while adding 14 points on Friday night.  Juniors Giovanni Thompson and Jhalen Lumpkins also tallied 14 points for the Falcons on Friday and will look to increase their point totals on Tuesday evening as they both are averaging double figures after their first nine contests.

The contest is slated for a 7pm start at Roland Hall on the USGA campus.  The game can be viewed live here.  Live stats can also be found on the USGA site.
