Junior Meghan Case Representing Fisher At The National Level For The Association Of Student-Athletes

Boston, MA- Junior Women's Basketball player, Meghan Case, was recently nominated to serve on the Association of Student-Athletes (ASA, representing Association of Independent Institutions (AII).  Meghan, a native of Sacramento, California, was nominated by Coach Jesse Ford and Athletic Director, Catherine Courtney, and is the first ever student-athlete to represent Fisher at the national level and has begun serving her two-year term this past September. She represents the Falcons on bi-monthly conference calls along with the other 25 ASA members throughout the country. Meghan will also be attending the NAIA National Convention in April to represent the Association of Independent Institutions (AII).

As stated on the NAIA website, the mission of the ASA is to serve as the voice of all NAIA student-athletes in the NAIA's governance, while providing a platform for student-athletes to discuss issues of concern to them, offer feedback to NAIA membership, and propose legislation or policy changes. Additionally, the ASA will offer its members the opportunity to develop their leadership skills as they represent and empower all NAIA student-athletes.

Meghan is also working with Coach Rob Blouin, the men's basketball coach, to kickstart the ASA program at here at Fisher next semester.  The initiative will include two members of each sport nominated by their head coach.  These student-athletes will participate and will work closely with Meghan to voice their concerns at Fisher and have their voices heard at the national level.  The ASA team will also be developing community service and leadership opportunities for their fellow teammates as well implementing an online database called Helper/Helper that will allow student-athletes to easily track their community service hours and apply for jobs.

"I am really excited about the leadership opportunities that the ASA has provided me with already and look forward to getting more involved in bringing the ASA to Fisher.  I want our student-athletes to be adequately represented and bring a voice and opinion to the NAIA," said Meghan.
