Basketball Heads to Maine To Take On The Clippers In A Doubleheader Wednesday Evening

Boston, MA- The Men's and Women's Basketball teams return to action tomorrow as they travel together up to Machias, Maine to take on the Clippers in a doubleheader starting at 5:30pm. Both the men and women faced the Clippers earlier this season with both teams earning the win.  The women will kick off the action as they take on the 6-4 Clippers, a team they knocked off 81-55 back on November 7th at Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium.  The Lady Falcons never trailed in the game and used a combination of strong offense and swarming defense to secure the victory.  The 81 points scored is the second highest point total this season for Fisher, while the 25 forced Clipper turnovers is also the second highest opponent total in their nine games played.  Juniors Kellie Gaston (Tampa, FL) and Vivian Lara (Norwalk, CA) led the way offensively in the win as they combined for 45 points while Lara tacked on a team-high nine rebounds.  Both Jenny-Lynn Eggers (Sonoma, CA) and Misha O'Neal (Tampa, FL) both contributed in double figures with 11 points a piece in the win.  Currently, Lara, Gaston and Eggers are the three Falcons averaging in double figures in their nine games, with 20.8, 15.3 and 12.8 respectively.  Clippers Tate Dolley led the way for her team in the losing effort, contributing 23 points, while Raegene Womack tallied 13 points.  Womack leads her team overall with 14.6 points in 10 games this season.

The Lady Falcons are heading into the contest riding a three-game win streak sitting at 8-1, while the Clippers are headed in the opposite direction as they have dropped their last three.  Coach Ford and his squad will look to make it four in row on Wednesday evening on the road. "Machias has some size and strength that gave us some challenges in our November matchup. Now, playing on their home floor, we have made a few minor adjustments to our defensive game plan. It will be important for us to pressure the ball and stay out of foul trouble underneath," said Ford.

The Men will take on Machias in the nightcap following the women's contest in the Reynolds Athletic Center, a team they defeated 77-61 in the doubleheader action on November 7th.  Similar to the women, the men never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 19 points in the victory.  The Falcons shot well in the win, a respectable 43% from the floor while forcing 16 Clippers turnovers.  The Clippers did win in the rebound category 42-36, so Coach Rob Blouin's squad will look to get physical under the hoop and control the boards the second time around.  Jhalen Lumpkins (Sacramento, CA) led all players in the win with 17 points, with four rebounds, three steals, while also dishing out six assists. Giovanni Thompson (Kissimmee, FL), Brandon Rembert (Camden, NJ) and Ville Milan (Turku, Finland) were the other Falcons who scored in double figures as they each notched 10 points to secure the win.  Rembert is the top scorer for his team overall in 12 games as he averages 16.3 points per game, while Lumpkins and Thompson are the two other Falcons in double figures with 12.6 and 11.0 points respectively. Clippers Dante Ramos led the way for his team in the losing effort with 17 points and is also currently averaging a team-high impressive 22.0 points per game.

Coach Blouin and his Falcons will look to get back in the win column after dropping their last contest to Albertus Magnus, while Machias is looking to end a four-game losing skid. "Going up to Machias is a trip we have done every year since I have been here, and it's definitely one of my favorite places to visit and play.  Machias is always a good test for us so we need to be ready," said Blouin.
