Manalo and Catala Selected To The N.I.A.C. Volleyball All-Conference Team

Boston, MA- The 2018 Women's Volleyball team, in just its second year, had a very successful season this past fall. The Lady Falcons finished their season with a 17-11 record while claiming the first-ever Northeastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC) Championship, a 3-1 victory over Green Mountain College. The team also received individual success as the team earned two NIAC All-Conference players, as released Wednesday afternoon by NIAC Commissioner, Meg Schebler.

The lone senior, Natie Manalo (San Francisco, CA), was recognized for the NIAC Volleyball All-Conference team as well as being honored as the NIAC Championship Offensive MVP. This is her second season as an All-Conference player as she received the honor her junior season as well. This year Manalo was a key factor to Falcons success as she lead the team in assists (381), digs (263) and service aces (74). In the NIAC Championship, Manalo called the shots for the Fisher offense, dishing out 32 assists as well as compiling 13 digs and four service aces in the win. The Lady Falcons will certainly miss Natie, as she was a leader both on and off the court.

The NIAC also recognized Yeryval Catala (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) for the All-Conference team as well as being chosen as the NIAC Championship MVP. Catala was a consistent offensive threat as she led the team with 261 kills on the season, despite missing the first five contests of the season. Catala was the catalyst for the Falcons in a four-set win over Green Mountain to win the first NIAC Championship, firing 20 kills to go along with 23 digs and six service aces for the win.

We would like to congratulate these two student-athletes for all of their hard work they put forth this past season on and off the court, and wish the best of luck to senior Natie Manalo as she will be graduating this spring!
