Weekly Preview - Men's Basketball Takes On The College Of Saint Joseph Fighting Saints

Boston, MA - The Men's Basketball team is coming off a 79-66 defeat of the Bryant & Stratton College last weekend. The convincing win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Falcons and put them back on the winning track. The Falcons are now 8-15 this season with an 0-3 A.I.I. conference record and will be looking to earn another win on Tuesday evening as they head to the College of Saint Joseph in Rutland, VT. The two teams have faced off twice this season already with each team coming away with a win. The Fighting Saints took the first victory defeating the Falcons 82-73 at the Paula Titus Memorial Tournament on November 16th. Fisher had the answer just two weeks later when they played host to the Saints and earned a 110-90 victory. The 110 points scored is the highest point total for the Falcons this season, and was the only time this season FC has hit the century mark. The Falcons will look to re-enact that performance and come back to Boston with their 9th win.

Despite the losing record, the Falcons have shot well this season and have lost many close games.  They are currently averaging 73 points as a team, while their opponents are averaging 78. Coach Blouin will look to his entire roster to contribute on Tuesday evening, as he continues to see production from his bench. Since the return from winter break, eight different players have logged games with double figures; Abrian Dickson (Indian Wells, AZ), Anthony Lewis (Lodi, CA), Jhalen Lumpkins (Sacramento, CA), Ville Milan (Turku, Finland), Kyle Snowden (Santa Cruz, CA), Chris Sorapuru (Temecula, CA), Giovanni Thompson (Kissimmee, FL) and Mena Yacoub (Clermont, FL). Lumpkins leads the way over this stretch, averaging 13.4 ppg since the return from break and scoring in double figures five out of the last seven games. He also leads the Falcons in rebounds with 5.9 boards per game and also has 41 steals, good enough for 6th in the A.I.I. Conference. Snowden and Thompson have contributed in double figures four out of the last seven games and average 11.7 and 11.5 points per game respectively in their last seven games. Snowden also leads the way in assists this season (87) which puts him fourth in the conference.

The Fighting Saints will host the Falcons on Tuesday looking to snap a 15-game losing streak. The team has not won a contest since they defeated Fisher back on November 16th. Over that stretch the Saints have allowed their opponents to hit the century mark on six different occasions as their opponents average 93.8 points per game, and have shot an astounding 50% from the floor. The Saints currently average 78.5 points per game while shooting 42% from the floor. Senior Charles Isaac Jr. (Tampa, FL) leads the way for his squad as he averages an impressive 21.9 points per game while leading his team in rebounds as well with 5.9 boards per game.  Isaac has two double-doubles this season, and dropped his season high of 42 points when they faced the Falcons the second time around. Junior Mickalous Snowden (Fitchburg, MA) averages 18.1 ppg, and has seven games this season in which he has scored more than 20 points, including a season-high 40 points in the 127-102 loss to Vermont Tech. In the two games against the Falcons he scored 31 in the Saints victory, and 12 in the Fisher win. Junior Brian Kennedy is the other Saint to average in double figures as he comes away with 12.7 points per contest.

The two teams tip-off after the women's contest at 7pm. Live stats for the event can be found here.
