Warren MacPhail Named Inaugural Head Coach For Men's and Women's Cross Country

Boston, MA- Warren MacPhail has been named the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach for the inaugural cross country season that will begin in the Fall of 2019. "Being located in a running city and having the Charles River in your backyard, the addition of cross country was an easy decision to make," said Falcons Athletic Director Cathy Courtney. "I am excited to have Warren join our staff. With his extensive coaching background and local ties, Coach MacPhail was a natural fit in the Fisher College athletics department."

Coach MacPhail comes to Fisher Athletics with 26 years coaching experience, having coached for Winthrop and Lynn public schools over that stretch. Over his tenure at the high school level he has earned 12 NEC Championships in both track and cross country and has been voted NEC Coach Of The Year 12 times in both Winthrop and Lynn. In 2014, MacPhail was chosen as the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce Coach Of The Year. He has also coached three state champions in track, and 36 NEC All-Stars.

"I am so excited to begin coaching cross country at Fisher College. The people at the school could not be more warm and welcoming. The location of the campus set along the Charles River and so close to the Boston Marathon finish, makes for an ideal place to experience cross country running at it's finest. This new adventure is going to be awesome," said MacPhail.

MacPhail is an avid runner and triathlete who has competed in over 200 triathlons and over 500 road races ranging from 5K's to the Iron Man competition. He was also a member of Team USA in 2012 and traveled to New Zealand to compete. He is currently an elementary school teacher in Winthrop where he also lives with his family.
