Junior Mitchell Lundholm Earns A.I.I. Player Of The Week For The Second Time This Season

Boston, MA- For the second time this season, junior first baseman Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, MA) has been chosen as the A.I.I. Player Of The Week. This is the 5th nomination for Fisher baseball this season as senior pitcher Zach Leblanc (Salem, MA) has also earned the honors twice, along with freshman outfielder Jorge Sanchez (Caguas, PR) who both were chosen last week for the first ever Fisher sweep of the awards.

Lundholm has continued his dominance at the plate as he batted .541 (13 for 24) in seven games last week. He also collected 11 RBI, had a pair of doubles, scored seven runs, and recorded seven stolen bases helping his team to a 5-2 week. The junior first baseman also had a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth inning to help his team defeat Eastern Nazarene College (Mass.) last Tuesday.

For the season, Lundholm is hitting .479 – ranking him fourth among all NAIA players – and has 65 RBI and 16 doubles. He currently leads the nation in hits per game (1.946) and RBI's (65), and is second in total hits (80) and third in RBI's per game (1.54). He also has struck out only 11 times in 167 plate appearances. Defensively he has also been solid at first having only made three errors in 314 chances.

The junior will look to continue his solid play this weekend as the Falcons take on the Pine Manor Gators on Saturday and Sunday.
