Hardeeville, SC - The Fisher College Baseball team began their 2011 season with a double header on the road against the University of South Carolina-Beaufort.

Game One: SC-Beaufort 5, Fisher 0 (Final)

In game one, the Falcons couldn't solve the puzzle that USCB starter, Dexter Price threw at them. Price, a Auburn Univeristy transfer, threw four shutout innings as the Sand Sharks beat the Falcons, 5-0.

Fisher College starter Michael Hashem (North Andover, MA) threw well in defeat as he tossed 4.2 innings striking out four and allowing five runs - only two however were earned. Freshman Roberto Serrano (Cape Coral, FL) relieved Hashem and was able to end the inning without allowing a run. Freshman Andrew Hurd (Barnstable, MA) tossed a scoreless sixth in his collegiate debut.

Offensively for Fisher (0-1) senior Reynaldo Nunez (Santiago, Dominican Republic) went 2-for-3 with a double while freshman Davidson Peguero (Boston, MA) was 1-for-3. Also recording base hits for the Falcons were sophomore Steven Clark (Haverhill, MA) and senior Jose Rodriguez (Clermont, FL).

Game Two: SC-Beaufort 14, Fisher 2 (Final)

South Carolina-Beaufort put on an offensive outburst in game two as they won 14-2.

Fisher College starter, senior Kevin Michael (Ipswich, MA) lasted only 3.1 innings as he allowed 7 runs on five hits while striking out two. The defense was the real reason for the lopsided score as the Falcons committed 9 errors which led to six unearned runs - four unearned with Michael on the hill.

At the dish, Davidson Peguero provided Fisher with their first two runs of 2011 as he had a 2 RBI triple in his 1-for-3 game. Senior Mike Oliveira (Tewksbury, MA) came off the bench and went 1-for-1 with a run scored while junior Micheal Flynn (South Pasadena, CA) recorded his first hit as a Falcon. Flynn finished the game going 1-for-2 after entering the game as a pinch hitter. Also recording base hits were Rodriguez and sophomore Alex Orsini (Loudon, NH).

The Falcons will look to split the opening four game set tomorrow as they will take on USCB in another double header. Sophomores Casey Reed (Ossippe, NH) and Micheal Callahan (Chepachet, RI) are the possible starting pitchers with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 pm. The games can be seen live on the web through the USCB website.
