Ditren, Cantu lead Falcons to 1st win of the season

Freshman Carlos Ditren pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing only 3 runs on 8 eight hits to pace the Falcons to their first win of the season. With the win the Falcons improve to 1-14 on the season.

Fisher struck first in the top of the 2nd after a Victor Lebron groundball was missed by the Houston-Victoria 2nd basemen.  On the error, Jose Paulino and Michael Flynn came around to score to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.

UHV would get one run back in the bottom of the 2nd on a bases loaded walk by Carlos Ditren.

In the top of the 4th the Falcons added to their lead after Dominic Zaher reached on an error and later came around to score on a wild pitch.  Fisher added a fourth run on a Denon Rushing sacrifice fly that scored Flynn.

The Jaguars scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-3.  With two outs in the inning, UHV had three doubles in a row, scoring 2 runs.

Each team added a run in the 7th.

Christopher Cantu, who relieved Ditren in the 6th inning, went 1 and 1/3 innings to record his first save of the season.
