Peguero, Falcons win home opener, 10-5, versus Fitchburg State University

The Fisher College Falcons opened up their 2012 home schedule in impressive fashion, beating the Fitchburg State Falcons, 10-5, in the first game of a doubleheader.  Following a 1-15 start to the season, including a 1-11 road trip through Texas, the Falcons returned home and brought their offensive with them.

The Falcons jumped out the 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first, capped off by Davidson Peguero's second home run of the season.  Peguero finished the game with a 3-4 effort and drove in a career high four runs.

Fisher erupted for a season high 10 runs on the 13 hits to ease their way to a victory in their home opener. Along with Peguero, three other Falcons had multiple hits.  Victor Lebron had two hits to record his fifth multi hit game of the season.   Denon Rushing and Jose Paulino also recorded two hits apiece.

The visiting Falcons of Fitchburg State scored all five runs in a wild fifth inning which saw Fisher use three different pitchers.  Freshman starter Carlos Ditren started the fifth and recorded two outs before turning the ball over to Roberto Serrano in a bases loaded situation. After two straight walks by Serrano, Izzy Velez was able to get A.J Silberman to hit a tapper back to the mound to end the inning.

Fisher added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings to provide some breathing room.

With the win the Falcons improve to 2-15 on the season.  Carlos Ditren improved to 2-1 on the year.
