Callahan, Falcons sweep UMF for 4th straight win

In the second game of the doubleheader junior Mike Callahan went 6 innings and gave up just one run to pace the Falcons to a 6-2 victory. The win was Fisher's second of the day and fourth in a row.

Senior Gary Lunetta and sophomore Victor Lebron had back to back doubles with one out in the first to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.  The lead quickly increased to two when Davidson Peguero's fly ball was dropped by the leftfielder and Victor Lebron was able to score. With two outs and two runners on, catcher Brett Remon doubled to deep center, increasing the lead to 4-0.

Fisher added a run in the fourth inning when Dominic Zaher scored on wild pitch following a single earlier in the inning.

UMF got their first run when Jack MacVane singled to center to score Colin Mello. In what seemed like a certainty, the Falcons got the run back in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Ronnie Rosario RBI double.

In the seventh inning Ronald Rosario took over on the mound for Mike Callahan and got the first UMF batter to strikeout.  Rosario relinquished two hits before giving up a walk to load the bases.  Another walk allowed UMF to score its second run of the game. The run was the first given up by Rosario in three appearances this season.

With the win the Falcons improve to 5-15 while UMF drop to 0-2.  Fisher returns to action Monday night when Rivier College visits Frasier Field.  The Raiders are coached by Anthony Perry a 2008 graduate of Fisher College and assisted by Michael Oliveria who completed a four year career with the Falcons in 2011.
