HARDEEVILLE, S.C. —  It was a historic weekend for the Falcons of Fisher College as they traveled to Hardeeville, South Carolina to take on the #21 South Carolina Beaufort Sand Sharks. It was the fifth consectutive year traveling south to begin their season.

Following Friday night's hard fought 6-2 victory that saw Yale transfer Christopher O'Hare (Lynnfield, MA) earn his first Fisher victory in relief, the two teams were rained out on Saturday and were scheduled for doubleheader Sunday afternoon.

In Sunday's opener the USCB Sand Sharks cruised to a 12-2 victory on the back of Miles Galvin's outstanding pitching preformance. The senior held the Falcons to one unearned run on three hits over seven innings. He struck out two and didn't issue a walk in earning his first win of the season. USCB's Leadoff man J.J. Crespo had a pair of hits in the six-run first inning, including a two-run single. Kyle Thompson also had two hits in the game and drove in a run.  

The Falcons had limited offensive production throughout the morning's contest but junior catcher Brett Remon (Salem, MA) provided a spark, going 2-3.  Fellow junior Daurys Batista (Union City, NJ) game off the bench to drive in the Falcons second run of the game with double down the left field line in the 8th inning.

Junior John Tangherlini (Lincoln, RI) took the loss for Fisher after giving up six runs, four of which were earned in his first inning of work.

However the Falcons were able to bounce back to winning ways in the day's second game as Fisher received an outstanding pitching performance as left-hander Chris O'Hare struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing one run on six hits.

Making his first career start for the Falcons, O'Hare gave up an RBI single to Erik Armstrong in the first inning but shut down the Sand Sharks after that to earn his second win of the series. O'Hare outdueled Hunter Englehart, who allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits over five innings.

Fisher managed to tie the game up at one apiece in the 3rd inning when junior third basemen Victor Lebron (Union City, NJ) had a line drive single up the middle which plated catcher Sammy Alejandro (East Hartford, CT) who led off the inning with a walk.

The Falcons would add two more runs in the top of the 5th when Eridani Dume (Boston, MA) singled down the left field line to score Ivan Cabranes (Toa Alto, PR) who started the inning with a walk.  The Falcons second run of the inning came when Lebron reached on an error by USCB's second basemen which allowed Dume to score from 3rd. 

Trailing 3-1, the Sand Sharks threatened in the sixth, loading the bases on back-to-back singles by Terry McClinton and Jon Andrews and a walk by Nick Payne, but O'Hare struck out the next two batters to end the inning. The back-to-back strikeouts capped off a fantastic outing for O'Hare who was pitching in a game that had more of a postseason feel to it rather than a season opening weekend. 

Dume, Lebron, Davidson Peguero (Boston, MA) and Yuliano Rodriguez (Toa Alto, PR) each had two hits in the game. 

The Falcons will return to action when they travel to Flemington, NJ for a four game set with Houghton College.  Houghton, who was a member of the American Mideast Conference last season with the Falcons, is completing in its first season as a member of the Empire 8 conference in the NCAA's division III.  The former conference rivals are schedule for back-to-back doubleheaders starting Friday, March 1st at 12PM.
