Castro's complete game two hitter earns Falcons sixth straight victory

Lynn, MA -- Junior Jefry Castro (Union City, NJ) threw a complete game two hitter to pace the Falcons to a 4-0 non-conference victory of the University of Maine - Farmington Beavers Saturday afternoon at Fraser Field in Lynn, MA.

With the win the Falcons improve to 16-12 on the season while the visiting Beavers falls to 1-1. Castro kept the UMF hitters off balance all afternoon, fanning 10 batters on his way to his second victory of the year.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the bottom of the first winning when freshman Yuliano Rodriguez (Pao Alta, PR) reachedon a two out walk.  A second consectutive walk to Davidson Peguero (Boston, MA) pushed Rodriguez to second where he later came around to score when Dominic Zaher (Chelmsford, MA) singled to left field.

Fisher went on to score three more times in the third inning on three hits.  Jose Paulino (Lawrence, MA) had a bases loaded walk before Joshua Boyd had a sacerfice fly to left. The third run of the inning came across when Sammy Alejandro reached on a fielder's choice to shortstop.

Zaher paced the Falcons offense, going 2-3 in the game. Colin Mello and Matt Woodbury each recorded one hit for the UMF Beavers.

Starter Ben Pearson took the loss for the Beavers after going five innings and allowing four runs on six hits.  Pearson walked five in the outing while striking out two.

Fisher and UMF square off again this evening in the second game of the doubleheader begining at 5:30PM
