Anthony Peguero leads Falcons to series sweep versus Maine- Farmington

Lynn, MA -- The Fisher College Falcons continue to remain dominate at home as they swept the three game series with the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers this afternoon with a 9-3 victory at Fraser Field. The win is the Falcons' eight straight and it improves the overall record to 18-12. Maine-Farmington falls to 1-4 with the setback.

The Beavers would get on the board first as Brett Wallingford (Sanford, ME) worked bases loaded that forced home Zach Keene (Livermore, ME) in the top half of the second.

Fisher would answer right back as they scored three runs, keyed by a two-out, two RBI double from senior Anthony Peguero (Hyde Park, MA). Senior Sammy Alejandro (East Hartford, CT) was able to scamper home prior to the double when classmate Jose Paulino (Lawrence, MA) was picked off. Peguero then crossed the plate as the Maine-Farmington catcher's throw sailed into left field on the stolen base.

The Falcons would plate single runs in the fourth and fifth. Peguero lifted a sacrifice fly to left that scored Paulino in the fourth inning and Alejandro singled up the middle, which hit the second base bag and allowed freshman Ivan Cabranes (Toa Alto, PR) to come across with the sixth Fisher run of the game.

Maine-Farmington was able to score a run in the sixth as freshman Grayson Beressi (Falmouth, ME), who reached on a error, scored on a single up the middle by junior Brett Wallingford (Sanford, ME). Fisher was able to escape further damage as freshman Jose Maldanado (Toa Alto, PR) came in and got a strikeout followed by a nifty double play turned by Peguero and Paulino.

Peguero would be in the middle of another run scoring inning for Fisher as he was able to triple home junior Eridani Dume (Bani, DR) and then touched the plate himself on freshman Yuliano Rodriguez's (Toa Alto, PR) sacrifice fly to left.

Fisher would add their final run in the eighth as Dume reached on a walk and scored on Peguero's second triple of the game.

Junior Pedro Escafullery (Waterbury, CT) began the game on the mound for the Falcons and lasted just 3.1 innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four. Freshman Brian Rosa (Queens, NY) finished off the fourth inning as he was able to retire the next two batters on a strikeout and pop-up. He would go on to pitch a scoreless fifth before giving way to Maldonado.

Rosa was credited with the win as he finished with allowing one unearned run on three hits in his 1.2 innings of work.

A trio of relievers followed Maldonado and kept the Beavers scoreless over the final three innings.

Freshman Tom Grady (Whitefield, ME) suffered the loss for the University of Maine-Farmington. The young right-hander allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits while striking out five in his 3.1 innings on the hill.

Peguero finished the game going 3-for-4 with 5 RBI and scored two runs to lead the offense for Fisher.

Both Zach Keene and freshman Ben Keene (Livermore, ME) each had 3-for-4 days at the plate. Zach added two stolen bases and Ben had a RBI for Maine-Farmington.

The Falcons will return to action on Saturday afternoon as they are set to host the University of Maine – Presque Isle. Game one of the double-header is scheduled for 1pm. Maine-Farmington's next scheduled contest will take them on the road to Lyndonville, Vermont on Tuesday afternoon as they will battle Lyndon State College in a Northeast Athletic Conference double-header.
