Tangherlini, Falcons Soar Past Braircliffe College

Boston, MA—Junior John Tangherlini (Lincoln, RI) tossed a complete game two hitter as the Fisher Falcons cruised past the Briarcliffe College Bulldogs, 11-0, in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. The right-hander gave the Falcons their 14th consecutive victory and improved the Falcons to 24-12 overall.

Tangherlini struck out 12 Bulldogs while surrendering just three walks to earn his fifth win of the season. John Siciganano took the loss for the visitors who have now lost 4 of 5 games against the Falcons this season.

Fisher got the scoring started earlier, scoring two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Eridani Dume (Boston, MA) led off the inning with a single then stole second. An Anthony Peguero (Boston, MA) ground out advanced Dume to 3rd before Victor Lebron's (Union City, NY) sacrifice fly to center plated the Falcons first run. The Falcons doubled their lead when Joshua Boyd (West Chester, NY) drove a ball to deep left field for his fifth home run of the year.

After a scoreless second inning the Falcons tallied two more runs in the 3rd on three hits and a Briarcliffe error. Lebron had a one out single and was followed by a Boyd single to left. Yuliano Rodriguez's (Pao Alta, PR) fielder's choice allowed Victor Lebron to score from 2nd when Briarcliffe failed to turn the double play and the throw to first was too far out of reach for the first baseman. Fisher's fourth run of the day came when Davidson Peguero (Boston, MA) doubled to right center, scoring Rodriguez.

Fisher put the game out of reach by scoring seven runs in the 4th inning. Anthony Peguero, Lebron, Rodriguez and Dominic Zaher (Chelmsford, MA) each had RBI's in the inning to all but seal the victory for the Falcons.

Offensively, Boyd, Davidson Peguero, Lebron and Rodriguez had two hits for the Falcons who topped the 10 run mark for the 8th time this season.

The doubleheader continues at 5:30pm when Briarcliffe and Fisher square off in the nightcap.
