Falcons fall to Briarcliffe in Game Two

Lynn, MA -- In game two the Falcons' bats went quite as the managed just five hits off of Stewart. The sophomore went all seven innings, striking out nine to give the Falcons their first home loss of the season.

Briarcliffe scored their first run of the day in the top of the 3rd inning when Brandon Fischer reached on an error by second baseman Anthony Peguero. After advancing to second on a bunt by David Farina, Fischer eventually scored on a two-out single by Ben Wright.

The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the 5th when David Farnia was able to score on a two out pass ball. The run was scored in controversy as the Falcons argued a foul tip by batter John Tsiolis to no success.

The Falcons threaten to score in the 5th and 6th but Stewart managed to work his way out of trouble. Junior Jefry Castro (Union City, NJ) took the loss for the Falcons, falling to 3-3 on the year. The right-hander when seven innings, allowing six hits, two runs (one earned) while striking out nine.

The two teams will finish off their season series with a Sunday doubleheader at Fraser Field in Lynn, MA beginning at 12PM.
