Falcons, Owls Split Holiday Doubleheader

Lynn, MA – In a day scared by tragedy the Fisher Falcons and UMPI Owls finished out their season series with a doubleheader split Monday afternoon at Maplewood Park in Malden, MA.  The visiting Owls took game one, 3-2, while the Falcons reversed the score in game two, winning 3-2.

Tyler Baker (Haverhill, MA) took the loss for the Falcons in game one after going just 1 and 2/3 inning.  The junior gave up three hits and three runs (all earned) during his first start of the year.  Baker managed to collect one strikeout but walked three Owls in the short outing.  Moises Melo-Reyes (Methuen, MA) and Izzy Velez (Avon, MA) combined to pitch a scoreless 5 and 1/3 innings but the deficit couldn't be overcome by the offense.

The Falcons managed just five hits in game one, including a 2-for-4 effort by Eridani Dume (Boston, MA).

The offensive struggles continued in game two but Fisher was able to do just enough a pulled out the 3-2 victory to improve their record to 27-14.  Brian Rosa (Queens, NY) went six strong innings to earn his second win of the year.  The freshman allowed just three hits and two runs while striking out three.  Sophomore Chris Cantu (Alamo, TX) pitched a clean seventh inning to earn his 6th save of the year.

Davidson Peguero (Boston, MA) paced the Falcons with a 2-for-3 effort.  The junior also had the go ahead RBI single in the 6th inning.

The Falcons return to action tomorrow night when the travel to Nashua, NH. The Falcons will take on the Rivier University Raiders in a 7PM first pitch.
