Falcons Complete Sweep of UMF Beavers

Boston, MA – The Fisher Falcons completed the four game sweep of the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers on a cold Sunday afternoon at Maplewood Park in Malden, MA.  The Falcons downed UMF 7-2 in game one and 16-4 in game two a day after 14-7 and 11-3 victories.

In game one Shawn Carlson (Andover, MA) went five scoreless innings while striking out seven and walking just two to pace the Falcons to their 7th straight win.

Offensively that Falcons were led by Davidson Peguero's (West Roxbury, MA) 4-4 effort that included 3 runs scored. Yhonathan Santelises (Lynn, MA) had a game high 4 RBIs while going 2-3 at the plate. Junior Dominic Zaher (Chelmsford, MA) and sophomore Yuliano Rodriguez (Toa Alto, PR) added two hits apiece. Rodriquez also added a RBI in the winning effort.

Game two saw an offensive explosion for the Falcons, as they scored multiple runs in each inning to ease to the 16-4 victory. Freshman Mike Hersey (Horton, MA) picked up the victory in relief of starter Moises Melo-Reyes (Meuthen, MA).  Hersey went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing just one hit and no runs.

Seven Falcons combined for 14 hits in game two, led by Yuliano Rodriguez's 4-4 display. The first baseman also added 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored.  Peguero collected two hits in the night cap while Santelises was 3-4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

The Falcons return to action next Saturday, the 29th of March when they host former Sunrise Conference rival SUNY Canton for a four game weekend series. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for a 3:00pm first pitch.
