Tangherlini, Mendez power Falcons to Doubleheader Sweep

Boston, MA – The Fisher Falcons cruised to a doubleheader sweep of the SUNY Canton Roos with outstanding pitching preformances from John Tangherlini and Victor Mendez.  The Falcons currently hold an 11 game winstreak.

 In game one senior Victor Mendez dominated on the mound to lead the Falcons to their 16th win of the year. Mendez went the distance, allowing just four hits while shutting out the visiting Roos of SUNY Canton.  The right hander struck out nine while surrounding two walks.

The Falcons scored their lone run on a dropped fly ball in the 6th inning.  Offensively, Fisher was led by Yuliano Rodriguez (Toa Alto, PR) who went 2-for-3.  Nelson Lopez (Brooklyn, NY) scored Fisher College's only run when he was pinch running for catcher Ramcy Lora (Lawrence, MA).

In game two senior John Tangherlini carried a no-hitter into the six inning to cruise to his 5th win on the season.  The Lincoln, RI native went six innings, allowing just the one hit while striking out seven.  Junior Chris Cantu (Alamo, TX) pitched a scoreless seventh for the Falcons.

Offensively in game two, the Falcons were led by Elvis Perez, whose 2 RBI triple in the 5th inning broke open the game for Fisher.  The Falcons collected 8 hits in the night cap to improve their record to 17-7.

SUNY Canton and Fisher will resume their four game series tomorrow afternoon at Fraser Field in Lynn, MA with at 12pm scheduled doubleheader.
