Fisher, Briarcliff Split Saturday's Doubleheader

 Holstville, NY – The Fisher Falcons saw their 16 game winning streak snapped at the hands of Briarcliff College in the backend of Saturday's doubleheader. The Falcons won game one 10-3, before suffering just their 8th loss of the season with a 7-6 defeat in game too.

Victor Mendez (Lynn, MA) earn the victory in the series opener after going 5 innings while allowing two runs on six hits.  Mendez fanned one while giving up two walks. 

Offensively, The Falcons were led by Dominic Zaher (Chelmsford, MA) who belted his 2nd home run of the season.  Zaher finished 2-for-2 with 3 walks. Davidson Peguero (West Roxbury, MA) also had a two hit day, finishing 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored.

Game two's loss what Fisher first since March 12th.  Fisher jumped out to an early 5-2 lead but Briarcliff managed to crawl back, eventually capping off the comeback in walk off fashion. Mike Hersey (Norton, MA) took the loss for the Falcons after allowing three runs, two earned, over 2 and 1/3 innings.  Spencer Hermann (Jacksonville, FL) received the no decision after pitching the first four innings. Hermann allowed four runs, two of which were earned, on seven hits.  Hermann matched his three walks with three strikeouts in his first start of the season.

At the plate, the Falcons had four players record multiple hits.  Zaher and Victor Lebron (Union City, NJ) each went 2-for-3 with a double.  Peguero finished 3-for-3 while Sander Vargas (Lawrence, MA) went 2-for-4.

The Falcons and Braircliff continue their four game series Sunday afternoon with a 12:00pm doubleheader.  The Falcons return home on Monday where they will square off against Rivier University with at 7:00pm first pitch at Fraser Field in Lynn, MA.
