Hermann, Carlson Cruise Past Briarcliff

Boston, MA – Spencer Hermann (Jacksonville, FL) and Shawn Carlson (Andover, MA) each earned victories in the doubleheader sweep of visiting Briarcliff College Sunday afternoon at Fraser Field in Lynn, MA. The Falcons took game one 11-0, and game two 2-0.

Hermann, a junior left-hander, allowed his only hit of the game in the seventh inning of game one. He finished his first shutout three batters later, throwing a one-hitter and striking out 13.

The Falcons blew the game open in the first inning, scoring eight runs in the opening frame. Victor Lebron (Union City, NJ) went 3 for 3 in game one with three runs scored and one RBI. Davidson Peguero (West Roxbury, MA) and Elvis Perez (Lynn, MA) each had two hits for the Falcons.

Carlson, a junior transfer, went six innings, allowing five hits and one walk. The right-hander recorded 10 strikeouts in the winning effort. Junior Chris Cantu (Alamo, TX) pitched a clean seventh to earn the save.

Offensively in game two, the Falcons were paced by Peguero's two hits. Sander Vargas (Lawrence, MA) and Adam Lucey (Malden, MA) each collected an RBI.

With the sweep, the Falcons improve to 36-15 in the season.

 

Fisher returns to action Tuesday when they host Bates College at Fraser Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm and will be the final home game for the Falcons before hosting the 2014 A.I.I. Baseball Championships beginning Friday, May 2.
