Falcons Swept By Texas A&M - Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi, TX -- The Fisher College Falcons dropped a non-conference doubleheader to Texas A&M -Corpus Christi Wednesday evening at Chapman Field in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Falcons fell 3-0 in game one and then 11-1 in the night cap.

The doubleheader marked the first time Fisher has taken on a NCAA Division I opponent in baseball.

Game 1

Junior Joshua Torres took the loss for Fisher after going 4 and 2/3 innings. Torres allowed two runs on three hits.  The lefty recorded three strikeouts while allowing five walks.

Offensively, the Falcons were paced by a 2-for-3 effort by senior Sandar Vargas. Dominic Zaher, Dylan Moss, Jose Fortuna and Devin Perry also added a hit for the Falcons.

Game 2

Sander Vargas continue to pace the offensive, collected two more hits in a 2-for-4 effort in the nightcap. Through seven games this season, Vargas leads the team with a .478 batting average.

Yuliano Rodriguez, Jose Fortuna and Elvis Perez each had a hit while Fortuna had the lone RBI for the visitors.

Junior Brian Rosa took the loss after going 1 and 2/3 innings on the mound. The righhander allowed just three hits but gave up five runs.  Rosa notched two strikeouts but also gave three free passes.

The Falcons return to action on Friday, March 13th when they travel to the University of Houston-Victoria for a four game set. The series gets started with a single game at 1:00pm on Friday.
