Falcons Sweep CSJ, Improve to 17-12

Rutland, VT – The Flacons erased a five run deficit in game two of a day-night doubleheader to cap off the two game sweep of the College of St. Joseph's Tuesday night in Rutland, Vermont.

In game one, Cody Mercier got the scoring starter for the visitors, belting his third homerun of the season to right-center in the 2nd inning. The freshman was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a run batted in.

Fisher scored four runs in the third inning and five in the fourth to game complete control of the contest en route to their 16th victory of the year. Game two's 8-6 win improved the Falcons to 17-12 overall.

Brian Rosa went six strong innings to earn the victory in game one. Rosa allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out three.

Senior Dominic Zaher had a game-high three runs scored in a 3-for-4 effort. Both Zaher and junior Devin Perry (2-for-3) added homeruns for Fisher in the opener.

In game two, Fisher used a five fun fifth inning to eased a 5-2 deficit and earn the doubleheader sweep.

Ryne McNary earned the victory for Fisher in relief of starter Grayson Weber. McNary went three innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks. Weber lasted just two and 1/3 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks.

Senior Chris Cantu, who set a new school record with his 62nd career pitching appearance, recorded a five out save, his fifth of the season.

Yuliano Rodriguez (3-for-3) paced the game two offensive, while Zaher, Perry and Jose Fortuna each added two hits for Fisher.

The Falcons return to action Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Worcester State University for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
