Falcons crush UMPI, 13-0 and 14-0

Boston – The Fisher Falcons eased to a doubleheader sweep over the University of Maine – Presque Isle Saturday afternoon at Fraser Field in Lynn, Massachusetts. The Falcons took game one, 13-0, before a 14-0 win in the nightcap.

 

Senior Victor Mendez earned the win in the opener, throwing a complete game three hitter. The right-hander collected 12 strikeouts over the course of his outing.

Fisher collected a season-high 21 hits in the day's first game before belting 19 hits the second game. Senior Dylan Moss went 4-for-4 with three runs batted in the opener while Jessue Alvarado and Dominic Zaher each had three hits. Nine different Falcons collected at least one hit, while eight Falcons had a multiple-hit game.

 

In game two sophomore Brendon Mannion went five innings to earn the win. Mannion, Ryne McNary, and Chris Cantu combined for the complete game shutout. 

Offensively, Fisher was led by Cody Mercier (3-for-4) and Nelson Lopez (3-for-5). Eleven different Falcons collected hits for the host with six of them having at least two hits.

Fisher and UMPI return to action tomorrow afternoon with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader at Fraser Field in Lynn.
