Falcons Claim Nest as they Defeat Eagles 11-3

Waleska, G.A. - The Fisher College Falcons defeated the Reinhardt University Eagles on Thursday evening in a non-conference NAIA matchup by a score of 11-3. Fisher improves to 29-13 two days before facing conference foe in the A.I.I. Conference Tournament.

 

Senior Shawn Carlson got the start and the win on the hump for the Falcons going one inning giving up one hit. The Falcons used as many pitchers as there were innings (nine) in the game, combining for a total of six hits, three runs, and five strikeouts.

 

The Falcons started off the game strong, scoring two runs in the first inning. Carlson kept Reinhardt scoreless in the first inning to bring Fisher back to the plate. Fisher then jumped to a 9-0 lead when they added seven runs in the top of the second inning. Reinhardt pitchers held the Falcons scoreless for three innings while they chipped away, scoring one run for each of the three consecutive innings to make the score 9-3. 

 

The sixth inning was the last of the scoring for either team with Fisher scoring two runs in the top half to increase its lead to 11-3. Josh Torres came in for the Falcons in the sixth inning giving up two hits, but got out of the inning unharmed. Ryne McNary, Jefry Castro, and Chris Cantu all shut down the Eagles for the last three innings. 

 

Offensively, Jordan Berry was dominant,  going 1-1 hitting a homerun for the Falcons. Dominic Zaher (2-6 with a double), Hector Ozoa (1-2), Sander Vargas (2-4), Andres Ruiz (1-3), Harold Nogueras (1-2), and Jose Fortuna (1-4) helped Fisher to the 11-3 victory.

 

Fisher returns to action on Saturday evening, May 2, 2015, when it takes on A.I.I. rivals, the University of Houston Victoria at 7:00 p.m. The contest will take place at Georgia Gwinnett College, who is playing host for the conference tournament.
