Falcons Swept By Milligan College in Walk-Off Fashion

Elizabethton, TN – The Falcons dropped the final game of a two-game series with the Milligan College Buffaloes in dramatic fashion, losing 3-2 in walk-off fashion Wednesday afternoon.

The Falcons allowed two runs in the bottom of the ninth after holding a 2-1 lead to suffer their second straight defeat to the Buffs.

Fisher jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning before retaking the lead in the top of the seventh after Milligan tied that game in the bottom of the sixth. Bryan DeJesus pitched well for the Falcons, going 6.0 innings while allowing just one run. The right-hander allowed five hits and three walks but was able to fan a career-high seven batters.

Offensively, the Falcons managed seven hits on the afternoon. Cody Mericer (2-for-3) and Andres Ruiz (2-for-4) each had multi-hit efforts while Xavier Feliz, Devin Perry, and Joey LaRocca each tacked on a base hit of their own.

Matthew Trotta took the loss for the Falcons after going 2.1 innings in relief of DeJesus. Trotta allowed two runs on two hits and two walks. The winning run was scored on a Trotta hit by pitch.

The Falcons return to action on Friday, March 11 when they travel to the University of South Carolina-Beaufort where they will take on the Sand Sharks in a four-game set. The series is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
