LeBlanc Power Pitches to One-Hit Winner

Lynn, MA- A quick hour and 45 minutes was all it took for pitcher Zach LeBlanc to close out the 9-inning matchup of the Fisher Falcons and The College of St. Joe's Fighting Saints. Fisher walked away with a 3-0 victory at Fraser Field.

Le Blanc started the game with six strike outs over three innings to help keep the score at nil all until right fielder Haydell Alicea stepped up to bat for the Falcons in the bottom of the third. After two consecutive singles from Alicea and center fielder Cody Mercier, short stop Angel Perez Vargas ended up reaching first on a fielder's choice that scored Alicea. After first baseman Mitchell Ludholm and designated hitter Jonathan Rosado each struck out swinging, leaving Vargas on third after a stolen base, Fisher closed out the inning up 1-0. That one run would eventually be all that was needed to win the game after the lights out pitching, but the Falcons wanted to be sure to provide their pitcher a few insurance runs.

After a one hit fourth inning and a rapid succession top of the 5th Fisher stepped in to provide the additional run support. Vargas found himself on first after a short bunt allowed his fast feet to carry him across the bag before the throw. A double succession of steals found Vargas 90 feet from home. A Ludholm walk shortly after saw Rosado stepping up to face St. Joe's pitcher Albert. Rosado made quick work of his at bat, he connected for a double that sent both Vargas and Ludholm across for the two insurance runs. The final 4 innings saw a single error but St. Joe's was unable to capitalize and quickly went down during their at bats. With a double play to wrap up the top of the 9th, the Falcons walked away with the 3-0 win over their NIAC rival.

The Falcons are back in action on Saturday, April 21st, for a double header against the College of St. Joe's after Thursdays match up against Worcester State was postponed due to weather conditions.
