Falcons Baseball Makes It Six In A Row With A Sweep Over Pine Manor

Lynn, MA- The Falcons (6-0) baseball team made it six in a row this afternoon at Fraser Field with a sweep over the Pine Manor Gators winning by scores of 13-0 and 9-1.  Twelve different Falcons recorded a hit as the team rapped out 30 hits on the day, while the pitching staff only allowed nine hits and one earned run between both games. The Falcons have now outscored their opponents 75-9 in their first six games.

Game 1-
Zach LeBlanc (Salem, MA) earned the win in Game 1, throwing five strong innings in which he allowed just one hit in the 4th inning.  The offense started right off the bat in the first inning when Cameron Pearson (Orlando, FL) and Jamie Whynot (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia) both doubled to put the home team up 1-0.  The run support for LeBlanc continued in the next inning when the Falcons tacked on another three runs from hits from Joshua Rogers (Highlands Ranch, CO), Sami Bibovic (Brooklyn, NY) and Pearson to make it 4-0. The scoring wouldn't stop there as the Falcons put runs up in every inning except the 3rd and the 7th.  Bibovic led the way offensively as he reached base four times, going 2 for 2, with two walks, three runs scored and four RBI. Four relievers came out of the bullpen as Raymundo Gomez (Lynn, MA) George Gali (Guayama, Puerto Rico), Johann Doerrer (Dolgeville, NY), and Yamil Delgado (Caguas, Puerto Rico) eached pitched one inning, allowing just one hit combined to get the win 13-0.

Game 2-

The Fisher bats remained hot in Game 2 as the team added another 17 hits in the nightcap, taking the win 9-1. Leadoff batter Jorge Sanchez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) went 5 for 5 on the day with three runs scored and two RBI.  He led off the first inning with a single in which he beat out a grounder to the shortstop.  He then used his speed to get in scoring position for Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, MA) as he stole second base, allowing Lundholm to single him in for the early 1-0 lead. Again the lineup put the pressure on the Gators as they plated runners in every inning except the 2nd and the 7th.  Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, MA), Pearson, Lundholm and Sanchez all had multiple hits for a combined 12 hits and seven runs scored.  Kevin Bongiovani (Bayside, NY) got the win for the Falcons as he pitched the first two innings, not allowing a Gator on base and striking out two.  The bullpen was also strong for Coach Dulin's Falcons, as Edgar Carrasco (Gurabo, Puerto Rico), Wesley Lopez (Caguas, Puerto Rico), Norberto Ceballos (Loiza, Puerto Rico), and John Travieso (Miami, FL) combined for seven relief innings, allowing seven hits and only one unearned run for the win.

The Falcons will be looking for two more sweeps as they head to Bryant & Stratton University in Albany for two doubleheaders next Saturday and Sunday.
