Falcons Baseball Wins Their Seventh Straight With A Victory Over Rivier University

Lynn, MA - The Falcons baseball team, fresh off the Clemente Cup Championship, secured their seventh straight win as they defeated the Rivier University Raiders (3-13) tonight, 15-1. Fisher used a 9-run third inning to put the game out of reach early, taking advantage of five walks thrown by Raiders pitching in the inning. The Falcons added eight more hits to their season total and now have scored 15 or more runs five different times this season to up their record to 22-10.

Fisher got on the board first as leadoff man Jorge Sanchez (Caguas, PR) drew a walk to start the contest, and then stole second to get into scoring position for the Falcons leading RBI man, Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, MA). Lundholm continued to produce for his team and doubled home Sanchez to take a 1-0 lead early. The Falcons added another run in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead after two. Cameron Pearson (Orlando, FL) who is coming off a 3-hit performance against NVU-Lyndon, started the second inning with another single. He advanced up two bases on two straight wild pitches from Raiders starter Dax Billingsley and was knocked in by Ismael Perez (Brooklyn, NY) for the 2-0 lead. Falcons starter Randolf Flores (Brooklyn, NY) pitched three strong innings, not allowing a Raiders hit while striking out four in the first three innings. The bottom of the third is where the Falcons put the game out of reach as they scored nine times using five walks and five hits to go up 11-0 after three full. Sanchez tallied two hits in the inning as the Falcons batted around, while Ivan Rivera (Brooklyn, NY), Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, PR) and Joshua Rogers (Highlands Ranch, CO) each had a hit to contribute to the nine runs. Rogers added another double in the fourth and the Falcons took advantage of two fielding errors to tack on another three runs in the 4th to go up 14-0. FC added one more in the 6th and would close out the game in the 7th, winning 15-1.

The Falcons pitching staff was very effective in the win with Flores picking up his second win of the season, while George Gali (Guayama, PR), Raymundo Gomez (Lynn, MA) and Wesley Lopez (Caguas, PR) all pitched scoreless innings in the victory. Sanchez and Rogers led the way collecting two hits a piece, while Rosado and Lundholm contributed with two RBI's each. Raiders Eric Maxfield tallied the lone RBI for his squad in the top of the 7th inning to avoid the shutout.

Fisher will be back on Fraser Field this Saturday when they play host to both Pine Manor and University of Maine-Presque Isle. The action starts at 10am when the Falcons take on the Gators with the 1pm game versus the Owls to follow.
