LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. – The Fisher College Baseball team advanced to the Continental Athletic Conference Winners Bracket Championship game this evening as they walked-off on Edward Waters College, 11-10 in a thrilling contest under the lights at the Grizzly Baseball Complex. The second seeded Falcons are now 28-26 on the season and will take on top-seeded and #11 Georgia Gwinnett College in the 11am contest tomorrow.

The score was tied at 10-10 in the home half of the ninth inning and with two outs, senior Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, Mass.) worked a walk. Following a pitching change, Deziel immediately stole second to put the winning run in scoring position. Classmate Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y.) was then hit by a pitch and fellow senior Cameron Pearson (Orlando, Fla.) worked a walk to load the bases. Senior Elijah Perez (Lawrence, Mass.) was at the plate when a 1-0 offering got away from the catcher and Deziel, with a good secondary lead, pounced on the opportunity to score and was able to slide in safely passed the outstretched catcher to send the Falcons one win away from a return trip to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Opening Round.

Senior Christian Dow (Rochester, N.H.) got the start on the mound for Fisher and the veteran right-hander battled through into the 7th inning before receiving a no-decision. Dow finished throwing 116 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on twelve hits and striking out five. Sophomore William Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) entered in the top of the ninth with a runner on and picked up the win after stranding the go-ahead runs on base.

Sophomore Ivanuel Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) smashed a 2-run home run in the first inning and classmate Emanuel Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) was the star of the game as he laced a 3-run homer in the fifth followed by a game-tying RBI single in the 8th. Rosado finished the contest 3-for-5 with five RBI while Hernandez was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Also recording a two-hit night was sophomore Miguel Torres (Villalba, Puerto Rico), as he was 2-for-5.

Edward Waters saw sophomore Leonel Garcia (Palm Beach, Fla.) register four hits and junior Adrian Laro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) knock in three RBI on his 3-for-4 evening. Left-handed sophomore reliever Frank Grimaldi (Orlando, Fla.) suffered the loss as he was responsible for the winning run. Sophomore starter Alexander Davila (Orlando, Fla.) allowed eight runs (all earned) on ten hits while striking out three.

In the tournament's opener, Georgia Gwinnett topped fourth-seeded Iowa Wesleyan, 10-0 in a run-ruled seven inning contest. The Grizzlies and the Falcons will battle in the 11am slot tomorrow morning before Edward Waters and Iowa Wesleyan participate in a win or go home elimination game at 3pm. The loser of the 11am and the winner of the 3pm will face off in an elimination game at 7pm, with the winner earning the CAC automatic bid to the NAIA Opening Round.
