Falcons earn first conference win vs. Houghton College

It took a full 40 minutes but the Falcons were able to prevail in their American Mideast Conference battle with Houghton College.  The 77-71 victory was Fisher's first conference win on the season and improved their record to 3-15 on the year.  The victory was Fisher College's first ever American Mideast Conference victory in any sport. Competition in the conference began only this academic year.

Fisher led 39-28 on the break and was able to hold off a surging Highlander team that controlled the battle of the boards. The visitors were led by Chris Confair and Mike Munoz's 19 points each. Munoz also had a game high 18 rebounds.

The Falcons outshot their opponents 44 percent to 40 percent and were paced by Ryan McCorkle's 18 points and Dennis Norford's 16 point, 13 rebound effort. The Falcons also got a fine contribution off the bench from Alan Womack, who finished with 10 points.

The Falcons started the game off on a 20-0 run that proved too much to overcome for the visitors.  The run was sparked by sophomore Elijah Chisholm who had 10 points in just 13 minutes before leaving the game with an apparent knee injury.

The Falcons will look to make it two wins in a row for the first time this season when they host the College of St. Joseph's (VT) in a battle for former Sunrise Conference rivals. Tip-off is at 2 pm in Lynn, MA.
