Falcons Begin Season In Winning Ways vs. Maine-Machias

In an emotion fueled meeting between two former Sunrise Conference rivals the Fisher Falcon's Men's basketball team was able to pull off an 82-67 victory over the University of Maine – Machias.

The Falcons had 5 players score in double figures, led by Sophomore Tyler Shular's 23 points and senior Ryan McCorkle's 15 points.

Fisher raced out to a 15-2 lead just 3 minutes into the game before Maine-Machias was able to crawl back and make it a contest.   The Falcons would trade buckets with their opponents for a good portion of the first half before Maine-Machias was able to cut the lead to 1 with just over a minute left to play.

A Chris Green 3 pointer with 1:06 left in the half would give Fisher a 39-36 lead after the first 20 minutes.

Fisher used sound defense and effective shooting to open up a 13 point lead over the first 8 minutes of the second half and put themselves in great position for a season opening victory.  The Falcons shot 55.5% in the 2nd half while forcing Maine-Machias to shoot a disappointing 27%.

Tyler Shular contributed 8 rebounds to go along with his game high 23 points.  Freshman Dana Hines made his college debut my contributing 11 points and 8 rebounds.  The 6'7'' Boston resident also had a team high 2 blocks.

The Falcons return to action Wednesday November 7th when they host Vermont Tech.  The game is scheduled for a 8pm tip-off.  The Lady Falcons will precede the men's game with a 6pm tip-off versus Vermont Tech.
