Falcons Drop Non-Conference Tilt with MCLA

Lynn, MA – Kyle Holmes (Hampden, CT) scored 18 points and Ira Haywood (Las Vegas, NV) added 17 points but it wasn't enough as the Fisher Falcons lost a non-conference tilt with the visiting Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Trailblazers Tuesday night at Fectau-Leary gymnasium in Lynn, MA.

The 100-86 defeat drops the Falcons to 3-4 on the season while MCLA improves to 2-1.  The Falcons jumped out to a 44-39 halftime lead after holding MCLA 34% shooting.  The Falcons managed to shoot 60% in a first half that saw a combined 28 fouls.  With 3:24 left to go in the 1st half Ira Haywood finished a drive to the basket to open up a 37-28 lead for the Falcons. The nine point lead would be the largest lead of the game for the Falcons.

After trimming the Flacons lead to five at the break, MCLA ramped up the pressure to start the 2nd half, taking the lead just 45 seconds into the 2nd frame.  MCLA's Ruben Delrosario drilled a 3-pointer from the corner before Todd Hunt's three from the wing gave the Trailblazers a 45-44 advantage.

MCLA outscored the Falcons, 61-42, in the 2nd half, extending their lead to as much as 19 points. The visitors controlled the boards, outrebounding Fisher, 43-36.

Despite getting 44 points on the bench to MCLA's 38, the Falcons managed just 20 points off turnovers while the Trailblazers capitalized on 22 Fisher turnovers for 35 points.

The Falcons return to action Friday evening when they take on the University of Maine – Presque Isle Owls as part of the Colby College Classic. MCLA also returns to action on the 23rd when they traveling to NYU.
