Shular Fuels Falcons To Comeback Victory

Framingham, MA – The Fisher Falcons erased a 15 point first half deficit and came away with an 86-75 victory over the Framingham State University Rams this evening in non-conference action at Framingham's Athletic Recreation Center.

With the win, Fisher moves to 7-6 on the season, while Rams even their record at 4-4 with the loss.

With the game tied at 6-6 with just under three minutes played, the Rams rattled off a 16-5 run to take a 22-11 lead.  The run was fueled by seven points, including a three from long range, by sophomore Joe McCabe (Canton, Mass.).  The Rams extended the lead to 15 (37-22) after five straight points from freshman Wesley Ogbevoen (Boston, Mass.) off the bench.  The Falcons responded closing the half with a 13-4 run of their own keyed by 10 points from junior Chris Green (Middle Island, NY).  Green knocked down a trio of three pointers and converted a four point play to start the spurt that pulled the Falcons to within five (41-35) at the break.

The Rams pushed the lead back to 10 after baskets by juniors George Jordan (Worcester, Mass.) and Patrick Cuff (Medway, Mass.) to start the second, but the Falcons chipped away at the lead finally tying the score (56-56) on a Green trifecta midway through the frame.  The Falcons grabbed a seven point lead, 68-61, after back-to-back buckets from Orlando Zayas (Boston, Mass.) with 5:22 left on the clock.

The Rams responded with a 9-2 run fueled by five points from freshman Steve Murphy (Braintree, Mass.) including a bucket to tie the game at 70-70 with 3:28 showing on the clock.  Green followed with his sixth three of the evening putting the Falcons back on top for good.  A Jordan jumper pulled the Rams back within two, but the Falcons scored the final nine points of the game to secure the victory.

Sophomore Tyler Shular (Norwalk, Conn.) led all scorers with 29 points including 12-of-13 from the free throw line, while Green finished with 23 on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor including 6-of-8 from long range.  Zayas was the only other Falcon in double figures with 11 points.

Fisher returns to action Saturday night when they travel to Daniel Webster College for a 6PM tip-off. Framingham is back at it on Thursday evening when they square off against Lesley University.
