Falcons Soar over Daniel Webster, 74-66

Nashua – Four Daniel Webster players reached double figures in scoring led by 17 points from rookie Ray Farmer (Nashua) but Fisher answered with five players in double figures as the Falcons posted a 74-66 victory over the Eagles Thursdaynight in a NCAA-NAIA crossover regional matchup at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

DWC moved to 11-4 overall while Fisher improved to 10-13.

Farmer finished with eight rebounds and was 7 of 10 from the field, dished off a game-best seven assists and added three steals, while senior Daris Cosby (Albany, N.Y.) notched 16 points with five three-pointers, adding eight boards, and senior Aiden Collins (Paterson, N.J.) notched 12 points with five caroms off the bench.

Tyler Shular led the Falcons with a double double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, O.J. Moore notched 15 points, and Darrell Grady notched 11 points.

Ernest McNeil (Boston) added a double double for the winners with 10 points and 10 boards while Chris Green scored 10 and added four rebounds.

Rebounding was a key stat throughout as the Falcons finished with a decisive 44-28 advantage and limited the Eagles to just 10 offensive boards. DWC also struggled from the field, particularly from outside, finishing 8 of 34 on three-point tries.

Fisher also showed discipline down low. The Falcons were whistled for just nine fouls all night giving DWC just eight total free throws for the game. DWC would finish shooting 41-percent overall while Fisher hit for 47-percent.

DWC led just once early on though they remained within striking distance into the final minute.

Down seven at the break, the hosts opened the second half with a 10-4 run including treys from Cosby and Khial Watson (Ann Arbor, Mich.) to close the gap to just one (37-36) at the 16:22 mark before Fisher answered with an 11-3 spurt sparked by two inside moves from McNeil to regain a nine-point cushion (48-39) with 12:44 left.

A Cosby three kept the deficit at nine (54-45) with 10:11 to go, but a pair of layups from Moore and another from McNeil pushed the lead out to 15 with 8:19left.

Four points from Farmer, and layups from Kevin Perez (Nashua) and Collins later closed the gap to six (68-62) with 1:10 remaining, but McNeil again answered – this time with with a big three-point play in the paint - to get the lead back to nine with 52 seconds left to ice it.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday as they travel to NECC foe Wheelock for a 3:00 p.m. matchup.
