Falcons fall to Emerson, 77-60

BOSTON, Mass. – A dominant 27-point showcase by Michael Thorpe was the highlight of the night Wednesday as the Emerson Men's Basketball Team posted a 77-60 win over the visiting Fisher Falcons. With the win the Lions improve to 5-3 while Fisher falls to 5-6 on the year.

 

In the first half the Lions saw Tyson Hallowell lead the floor with nine points, but the Emerson defense is what made the difference as they forced 12 Falcon turnovers, eight for steals that EC turned into 13 points. Emerson's big men did work as well, putting in 16 points in the paint as the team shot 46% from the floor to head into the break up 32-23.

 

The second half saw Michael Thorpe explode on the Falcons as he shot the lights out going 8-for-11 from the floor for 21 points in the half while adding three assists to his tally as well. Emerson's team offense was on point as well, shooting a lethal 61% with Brian Hurley also dropping 15 points in the half to bolster EC's 34 points in the paint as the rolled to a 77-60 final.

 

The Emerson Men's Basketball Team will return to action this Saturday as they set to host the 2012-2013 NCAA Division III Champion Amherst Lords.  Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Boston at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym.
