Fisher Soars Past Fitchburg State, 94-82

Boston, MA --- Tyler Shular and the Fisher College Falcons overpowered Fitchburg State University on their way to a 94-82 victory Wednesday night at Fectau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, MA. 

Shular, a sophomore from Norwalk, CT scored a career high 35 points including two momentum changing dunks early in the game to lead the Fisher Falcons to their 12th win of the season.  Fitchburg State University falls to 2-19 in defeat.

The Fisher Falcons had three players reach double digit points, led by Shular's 35, to go along with 18 points from Orlando Zayas (Boston, MA) and 15 points from Ernest McNeil).  Zayas and McNeil each added eight and 11 rebounds, respectively.

Fitchburg State was led by Anthony Muccioli's 30 points on 11-20 shooting.  The visiting Falcons also received a strong performance from Josh Ferreira who finished with 13 points.

The two programs were evenly matched throughout the night, with Fisher holding a slight advantage in points off turnovers (30-28), points in the paint (42-34) and 2nd chance points (16-9). Fitchburg faired slightly better in bench scoring, outscoring Fisher 28-27.

Fisher benefited from a tightly called game by the officials that led to a combined 61 total personal finals.  Fisher attempted more than twice as many free throws as Fitchburg did, making 17 more than their guest. Fisher's 57 attempts and 38 makes were both season highs.

The Falcons return to action next Tuesday when they host the University of Maine – Fort Kent.  This game will mark the last time seniors Kyle Murphy and Chris Sadasfaz will compete at Fectau-Leary Gym.  Fitchburg State will host Bridgewater State University on Saturday the 15th as they return to MASCAC action.
