Falcons drop season finale, 99-67

NEWARK, NJ--Terrence Smith made 9-of-10 shots en route to a game-high 19 points in just 13 minutes of play to lead five double-figure scorers in NJIT's 99-67 men's basketball win over visiting Fisher Saturday afternoon in the Fleisher Athletic Center.

Smith was joined by Damon Lynn (11 points) among the NJIT starters, while Jake Duncan (15 points) and Tim Coleman andMontana Mayfield, both with 13 points, gave the Highlanders three double-figure scorers in reserve roles.

Coleman had a double-double with 14 rebounds to go with his 13 points and he also haf 5 assists and 6 blocked shots. As a team, the Highlanders notched 12 blocks, as Daquan Holiday rejected four.

The win, NJIT's fourth straight, matching a season-best when the Highlanders took four in a rwo from November 15 to 23, lifted the home team to 13-15 overall with one game remaining on the 2013-14 schedule.

Fisher, which competes as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, completes its regular season with a 13-17 record. The Falcons will compete as one of four teams in the NAIA's Association of Independent Institutions tournament on February 28 and March 1. The winner of that tournament will receive an automatic berth in the NAIA Division II national tournament.

Freshman Kyle Holmes came off the bench to lead Fisher's scorers with 14 points.  OJ Moore added 13 points and 5 assists for the Falcons, while starters Chris Green, Tyler Shular, and Ernest McNeil all scored 10 points. McNeill, a junior swingman, made four steals for the Falcons
