Men’s Basketball Falls to Johnson and Wales 77-54

Boston, MA – The Fisher College men's basketball team drops to 3-2 on the season with a 77-54 loss to the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University (JWU) of Rhode Island.

The Falcons dropped to a 5-0 deficit with only 45 seconds played on a three pointer made by Jarell Lawson. With 16:33 remaining in the first half, Ira Haywood (Las Vegas, NV) hit a three to tie the game at seven. Tyler Shular (Norwalk, CT) hit a layup, giving the Falcons their first lead of the game with a score of 11-10. The Falcons couldn't hold the lead and were down by 11 at half time.

Heading into the half, the score was in the Wildcats' favor, 39-28. Shular was the Falcons' lead scorer, with seven points in the first half. Other first-half impact players for the Falcons were Chris Green (Middle Island, NY) and Haywood, both with five points. O.J. Moore (Houston, TX) led the team with rebounds in the first half, collecting a total of three boards. 

Tom Garrick (11) and Jarell Lawson (10) were lead scorers for JWU. Robert Lewis and Lawson both collected five rebounds, pushing the Wildcats to their half-time lead.

The second half was another Wildcat half, out-scoring the Falcons 38-26. Lewis had a final total of 19 points while Quarry Greenaway and Lawson both had 17 points helping the Wildcats to their victory.

Shular, 14 points, was the lone Falcon to score double digits in the loss. Geodice Ortiz (Denver, CO) led the team in rebounds, collecting a total of six. The Falcons pushed to the end but couldn't catch up to the Wildcats. After two free throws by Richard Kennedy (Hamden, CT), JWU maintained possession of the ball for the last few seconds of the game, finalizing the score at 77-54.

The Falcons hit the road on Tuesday, November 25th, when they play Boston Common rival Emerson College at 7:00 pm.
