Falcons Soar Over Lynx 78-43

Boston, MA – The Fisher College men's basketball team improved its record to 13-4 after soaring to victory over Lesley University, which drops to 1-9 on the season. The Falcons defeated the Lynx 78-43 in the non-conference matchup Thursday night.

The game opened with the Falcons winning the jump, but a turnover gave the Lynx a 2-0. Chris Green (Middle Island, NY) then hit a shot from behind the arc to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead. Geodice Ortiz (Denver, CO) hit a layup to then put the Falcons up 5-2. A 10-point run then put the Falcons up 15-2 over the Lynx.

Justin Rosa then hit a three-pointer for the Lynx to bring the score to 15-5. The Falcons then took a 29-9 lead on another shot behind the arc by Green. Jacob DiDomenico cut the lead by two when he hit a jumper for the Lynx. Fisher managed an eight-point run and took a 37-11 lead with 6:14 remaining in the half. The Falcons continued to press the Lynx and took a 45-19 lead on an Ortiz layup. Heading into the break, the Falcons led the Lynx 46-22.

Green led the Falcons in the first half, scoring 12 points on four three-point shots. Jameel Yousif (Chicago, IL) followed Green with nine points and six rebounds. Darrell Grady (Staten Island, NY) and Ortiz both had eight points for the Falcons heading into the break.

Rosa led the Lynx with nine points and four rebounds in the first half. Other key Lynx in the first half were Chris Barletta with four points and Corbin Polec with three points. 

The Lynx came out in the second half with purpose, scoring seven points to cut the Falcon lead to 49-29. OJ Moore (Houston, TX) hit a three-pointer to increase the Falcon lead to 52-29. Lesley then went on a seven-point run, cutting the Falcon lead to 18, but was answered by a Falcon 11-point run that was halted by a layup by Lynx Nathan Jackson. The score stood at 65-38.

With 5:39 left in the game, Jonas Rusom (Hasselby, Sweden) swished a three-pointer to increase the Falcon lead 68-38. Jackson hit a jumper to bring the Lynx score to 40, but the Falcons pressured for the last four minutes to earn their final score of 78. The Lynx hit a free throw and with three seconds left on the clock, Terrell Toney hit a layup to give the Lynx their 43. Final score was 78-43 in Fisher's favor.

Yousif recorded a double-double for the Falcons with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Green maintained his 12 points in the second half while grabbing three rebounds in the victory. Ortiz was a rebound short of a double-double, scoring 10 points and rebounding nine shots, helping the Falcons in their victory.

Rosa was the dominant player for the Lynx, scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Toney (eight points, one rebound), Jackson (six points, four rebounds), and Barletta (six points, three rebounds) were other key Lynx in the loss.

The Falcons have some time to rest before heading back to Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium on Tuesday, January 13, when they host the University of Maine-Machias at 5:00 pm. Lesley University hits the road on January 10 when the team heads to Becker College for a conference matchup at 1:00 pm.
