Falcons Fall in Semi-Finals of A.I.I. Conference Championship

Española, NM  – The Fisher College men's basketball team saw its season come to end with a 84-78 loss in the semi-finals of the A.I.I. Division II Conference Tournament to host school Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) Friday evening.

 

At halftime, NNMC had a 36-19 lead over the Falcons, who struggled to find to find their flow in the first half. Fisher outscored NNMC 59-48 in the second half, but came up just short of advancing to the finals. The Falcons outscored NNMC in bench points by a margin of 17 points, but could not find the bottom of the net from beyond the three-point line, shooting just shy of 22 percent.

 

Ira Haywood (Las Vegas, NV) paced Fisher with 19 points, while Geodice Ortiz (Denver, CO) had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. NNMC had five players in double figures with Gabriel Martinez leading the way with 18 points while Eric Garcia added 15. Other key Eagles for NNMC were Walid Ahmed (13 points), Christian Barraza (12 points), and William Harvey (10 points).
