LYNN, Mass. -- Roger Hamel hit four 3-pointers for 12 of his 20 points in the Falcons 89-83 victory over Vaugh College. The Falcons improve to 5-1 on the season while Vaugh drops to 1-3 on the season.
The Falcons fell behind quickly letting the Warriors take a quick 7-0 lead with three minutes played. Brodric Smith got the Falcons on the board with a made layup. Jamontay Thompson tied the game at 13-13 with 13:32 left to play in the first half. Darrell Grady then gave the Falcons their first, but small, lead of the game with a made free throw to go up 14-13.
Thompson put up another 5-points in a minute to put the Falcons up 19-18. Hamel then took the Falcons on a 16 point run to take a 35-27 lead over Vaughn. The Falcons closed out the first half with a 49-43 lead after a 3-point shot from Kiezhan Hester.
Senior Kyle Holmes opened the second half with a sunken 3-point shot increasing the Fisher lead to 9-points. Cooper Neal helped maintain Fishers' lead making 9 out of 15 points.
Vaugh went on a run and took a 2-point lead, 67-65, over the Falcons with 12:35 to play. The Warriors and the Falcons battled back and forth taking the lead for the next several minutes. A made layup by Neal ensured a 5-point lead over Vaughn with 1:34 left in the game. Two free throws by Smith put the Falcons up 86-81. An additional 3-points from Holmes secured the Fisher 89-83 victory.
Hamel led the Falcons with 20 points and 5 rebounds with help from Holmes who scored 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Thompson and Neal added 12 points a piece for the Falcons in their victory.
Fisher College will return to action on Saturday, December 3 as they travel to Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, New York for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
