Fisher Runs Past Rivier, 81-52

(Lynn, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team suffered an 81-52 loss to Fisher College this evening inside the small confines of the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium. With the setback, the Raiders fall to 1-8 on the season while the Falcons improve to 6-2.

 

Rivier was led by freshman Keith Poitier (East Hartford, Conn.) who totaled 18 points on 5-of-18 shooting. Senior Kevin Francis (Cromwell, Conn.) and freshman Tristian Givens (Windsor, Conn.) each added 10 points with Francis also collecting seven rebounds. Senior David Lorden (Pepperell, Mass.) added seven rebounds and six points in the loss for the Raiders.

 

On the Fisher side, they were paced by the effort of senior Kyle Holmes (Hamden, Conn.) who recorded a game-high 17 points. Junior DeAndre Pennington (Colombia, Mo.) contributed with a double-double as he scored 10 points and pulled down 13 rebounds and senior Brodric Smith (Los Angeles, Calif.) pumped in 14 points for the Falcons sixth victor of the year.

 

Rivier will close out the first semester with a 1pm tip-off against Dean College on Saturday afternoon at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Fisher, meanwhile, will travel to North Adams, Mass. for the Tri-State Tournament hosted by MCLA. The Falcons will square off against Southern Vermont College in the opening round on Friday evening.
