LYNN, MASS – The men's basketball team took a tough loss against Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference opponent Washington Adventist University (WAU) on Monday evening.  Fisher College fell to 13-7 while #15 ranked WAU improved to 18-5 with the 78-75 victory.

The Shock got to a quick 9-0 lead over the Falcons, until DeAndre Pennington hit two free throws to put Fisher on the board.  WAU took a 17 point lead with 7:25 left in the first half leading 27-10 over the Falcons.  Darrell Grady hit a layup to cut the lead to 15, 27-17.  Fisher was able to push within 10 points before the clock hit zero for the break, 41-31 in Shock favor.

The second half continued to be ruled by WAU, but Fisher went on a 13-0 run in a minute and a half to come within 5-points of the Shock, 74-69.  Two hit free throws put WAU back up by seven, 76-69, but Kyle Holmes hit a layup to bring it to 76-71.  Smith fouled a WAU player bringing him to the line, increasing the lead to 78-73.  Holmes hit a layup to come within three and the ball under the basket.

The ball was inbounded and Cooper Neal tried to hit the shot from half-court as time expired for the second time in the game.  Holmes closed out the first half with a made half-court shot.  The game finalized with a 78-75 score.

Holmes paced the Falcons with 22 points and four rebounds.  Neal (14 points, 7 rebounds) and Smith (11 points, 4 rebounds) helped Fisher offensively being the only other two Falcons to score in the double digits.  Grady had a game high eight assists in the loss.

The Falcons will return to action on Wednesday, January 25 when the head to Connecticut College to take on the Camels at 7:00 p.m.
