Falcons Fend Off Fighting Saints 100-88

Lynn, Mass. – The men's basketball team took an exhilarating 100-88 victory from the College of Saint Joseph Wednesday night in an NIAC conference game.  Fisher College improves to 4-5 on the season while CSJ drops to 0-4 in their short season.

CSJ jumped to a quick 3-0 lead over the Falcons.  Jamontay Thompson nailed a layup while being fouled, stepped to the line and netted a free throw to tie the game up at 3-3.  Junior Mikol Blake-Green made a layup to put the Falcons ahead 5-3. 

Fisher busted open the first half when they went on a 14-0 run led by Malik Tavares hitting two 3-point jump shots to take a 34-17 lead over the Fighting Saints.  Heading into the break, the Falcons held on to a 17-point lead, 58-41.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the second half, but soon hit a small cold spell allowing CSJ to cut the lead to nine, 63-52 with 13:43 left to play in the game.  Fisher continued to maintain a large lead for the remainder of the second half finalizing their 100-88 victory over NIAC foe CSJ.

Tavares paced the way for the Falcons with 21 points going 4-for-4 from behind the arc and 7-for-10 in the paint.  Thompson added a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards for Fisher.  Kyle Snowden (17 points, 4 rebounds) and Mena Yacoub (11 points, 5 rebounds) were also key offensive players for the Falcons.

Fisher will have a short turn around before hosting Coast Guard Academy Thursday night in the Fecteau-Leary gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
