Falcons Fall to Villa Maria 66-60

DELHI, N.Y. -- The Fisher College men's basketball team faced off against Villa Maria on Saturday, November 11 in a men's and women's double header hosted at SUNY Delhi.  The Falcons (1-1) had several days off after their first victory looking to earn another win against the undefeated Villa Maria (2-0).

 

Villa Maria struck first with Dejaun Owens netting a 3-pointer.  The Falcons quickly answered back with an 8-0 run putting the Falcons up 8-5 going into the first time out called by Villa Maria. The falcons continued to score with Villa Maria is matching them. At the halfway mark in the first half the Falcons led Villa Maria 17-15. Villa Maria ended the first half strong taking a 4-point lead entering halftime 31-27.

 

Owens started the second half in the same way he opened the game netting a 3-pointer. Fisher countered back with a 3-pointer of their own by senior Jamontay Thompson keeping the game close. Halfway through the second half, Villa Maria held a two-point lead against the Falcons 46-44. Heading into the final stretch of game the Falcons trailed by 1 point 53-52.  Fisher couldn't find the strength to overpower Villa Maria finalizing the game 66-60 in favor of Villa Maria.

 

Senior Anthony Kellum led the Falcons in scoring with 16 points and 5 rebounds.  Joshua Graetz added 13 points for the Falcons in the loss. Villa Maria's Dominic Douglas led all scorers with 17 points. Lonnie Taylor was a key player for the Vikings adding 15 points and 17 rebounds.

 

Fisher will return to action on Sunday, November 12 against the SUNY Delhi Broncos in and NIAC conference matchup at 2:00 p.m.
