The Falcons Hit The Century Mark For The First Time This Season, Winning 110-90 Over The Fighting Saints

Lynn, MA- The Men's Basketball team has faced some adversity over the last week between long travel days and teams shooting over 50% against them in their past four losses.  But tonight everything came together for the Falcons as they snapped their four-game losing streak by defeating the College of Saint Joseph (VT) Fighting Saints, 110-90. This is the second time the two teams have matched up this season as the Saints took the first game in the Paula Titus Memorial Tournament on November 16th, 82-73.  The Falcons played their best game of the season tonight, hitting the century mark for the first time this season, as well as shooting an impressive 61% from the floor in the victory.

The two teams played back and forth basketball the first seven minutes of the first half as neither team could build much of a lead, leaving the two teams knotted at 16 with 13:05 left on the clock.  Fisher then began to get some distance from their opponents as they went on a 15-3 run, capped by a Mena Yacoub (Clermont, FL) 3-pointer to put his team up 31-19 with ten minutes left in the first half.  Another 8-0 run would give the Falcons their biggest lead of the first half as the Falcons led 43-25, forcing a Saints timeout.  The Saints would respond out of the time out with a 9-0 run of their own to get back within nine and bring the score to 43-34 with just over 3:00 left in the half. The Falcons would take a 51-40 lead into halftime as Brandon Rembert (Camden, NJ) hit a 3-point shot as the half ended.

The Fisher hot shooting continued in the second half as they hit 22 of 36 shots for a 61% shooting percentage.  The Saints did all they could to stay in the game, but Fisher would lead by as many as 29 points at the 9:00 mark in the second half and would go on to win 110-90 for their fourth win of the season. The Falcons outrebounded their opponents 47-20 in the win and the Falcons bench was incredible tonight as they outscored the Saints bench, 46-5.

Six Falcons scored in double figures in the win as Rembert led the way with a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, his second double-double of the season.  Yacoub was a sharp shooter from behind the arc as he tallied 17 points, with five 3-pointers.  Kyle Snowden (Santa Cruz, CA) and Giovanni Thompson (Kissimmee, FL) each had 15 points and four rebounds a piece, while Snowden dished out seven assists. Jhalen Lumpkins and Chris Sorapuru were the other Falcons to score in double digits as they combined for 22 points and 14 rebounds.

The Saints were led offensively by Charles Isaac Jr. who led all scorers with 42 points, shooting 50% from the floor and added nine rebounds.

The Falcons will have a much needed week of rest as they do not play again until Saturday December 8th when they go back on the road to face the Albertus Magnus Falcons at 3pm.
