Men's Basketball Looks For A Second Straight Win Saturday Afternoon

Boston, MA - The Men's Basketball team is coming off an exciting win on Wednesday evening in which they defeated the University of Maine-Machias 71-68 in OT to improve their record to 5-8 this season.  This was the second meeting of the two teams and the Falcons earned the sweep of the series, while winning 77-61 back on November 7th.  On Saturday afternoon at 1pm the team will take on another Maine team, the University of Maine-Fort Kent Bengals.

The Falcons will look to make it two in a row against the Bengals (5-10) who enter the contest having lost their most recent game on Wednesday evening against the University of Maine-Presque Isle, 80-70. The two teams have numerous common opponents with similar results with each team defeating Machias and the College of Saint Joseph (VT), while both teams falling to Villa Maria College early in the season. Fisher is 2-0 this season on their home floor, so the home court advantage should play a role in the game as well.

Fisher is led statistically by Brandon Rembert (Camden, NJ) in numerous categories including points per game (15.9), assists (42), and steals (30), while also having two double-doubles this season. Red-hot Jhalen Lumpkins (Sacramento, CA) will look to contribute as he has scored in double figures the last four games, including a double-double in the win over Machias in which he tallied 15 and 11 rebounds. Giovanni Thompson is the third Falcon to average in double figures for his team with 11.7ppg, and is coming off his best game of the season in which he scored 20 points and grabbed 12 boards in the Machias win.

The Bengals also have three players averaging in double figures; Chance Cole (16.9ppg), Jarid Walton (14.5ppg), and Johnathan Caldwell (13.4ppg). Cole is also their best rebounder as leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game, and is coming off a 37-point game in the loss over the UMPI Owls. Coach Rob Blouin's Falcons will look to slow Cole down and play strong defense against a team averaging 77.5 points per game.

The two teams tip-off at 1pm at the Winsor School in Boston, MA.
